Q: What do you
do? |
A: My
team and I try and work with clients at the outset to develop a
commercial approach that is respectful of their culture and past.
Professional service organisations are complex organisms and do
not respond well to ‘one
size fits all’ approaches.
Consequently, my colleagues and I are very conscious of the need to determine
the firm’s
cultural make-up and deliver the commercialism it strives in a meaningful and
long lasting manner. Most firms are innately commercial otherwise they would
not be in place today. I see our task as supporting them in securing a common
vision and toolbox for securing sustainable and fundamental profitable growth |
Q: Why do you
do it? |
A: Mainly
because we feel we are good at it and get good feedback. |
Q: What
are the top 3 challenges you are asked to deal with in Professional
Services sector today? |
- Make us commercial but don’t offend our culture
- Give us the confidence to be more commercially assertive without
losing clients
- Help us understand where our priorities lie
|
Q: What are your
predictions for future challenges in this sector? |
A: Our
firm believes the sector will potentially experience a sea-change
in its pecking order as new entrants, from retail sectors in particular,
challenge the status quo and current business models. Commercial
acumen will be needed at all levels in the modern professional
services firm. |
